Retreat for all Seasons

at home with its surrounding Allegheny Mountains

With its sweeping views of spectacular fall foliage, this family retreat is at its peak during the glorious months of autumn.

Project Type:
new construction

Materials:
buckingham slate, copper, reclaimed oak, reclaimed heart pine, bluestone

Located in Virginia’s beautiful Allegheny Mountains, this home is perfectly at ease with its surroundings thanks to walls of natural stone and a unique roof that combines Buckingham Slate and standing seam copper.

Inside, the retreat is at once grand yet intimate as the natural finishes continue throughout the open spaces. The home’s specialized timber frame detail adds drama and visual interest, while the reclaimed Oak flooring and custom-built entry doors lend warmth and character. A home control system electronically manages the built-in sound and television systems, as well as lighting and temperature (HVAC).

Custom reclaimed Heart Pine cabinetry in the kitchen and custom built-ins in the great room were both created by our architectural millwork division, ILEX Woodworking, while a covered bluestone patio is anchored by a stone fireplace amidst a backdrop of stunning mountain views. Featured in the February 2014 issue of Virginia Living magazine, this mountain retreat offers breathtaking inspiration for its thousands of readers.
